Arnold Balwé
Arnold Balwé studied from 1920 at the academy in Antwerp, and later at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich where he was a student of Karl Caspar. He graduated from the Munich Academy in 1927, receiving a distinction. Balwé travelled throughout Europe during his lifetime. He undertook annual study visits both in his home country of Holland and in all neighboring countries. In these places he found the subjects that would then reappear in his work. Both prior to and following the Second World War he took part in many exhibitions across Germany. The distinct feature of his paintings lies in their positive aura. This can be ascribed to the legibility of his representations, as well as to the colors, which convey the impression of a perpetual freshness.
