Galerie Schüller has been dealing in modern art for more than twenty-five years. It has established an international reputation as a market leader in art of the first half of the 20th century.
The gallery was established by Wolfgang Schüller in 1981 and was initially located in Gilching, near Starnberg, in Bavaria. The gallery moved to Munich in 1997. Today, it occupies exhibition space of over 270 square metres at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof on Munich’s prestigious Promenadeplatz. Lona Schüller, Wolfgang Schüller’s daughter, is now the director of the family-owned business. She took over in January 2007.
The gallery specializes in Classical Modern Art, German Impressionism – with a focus on southern Germany – and German Expressionism.
The gallery stages an extensive programme of exhibitions and provides a platform for the work of contemporary and local artists. In addition to the exhibition programme, the gallery stages a large number of solo exhibitions and group shows. These concentrate on schools of painting and artists’ groups. Some examples are: Heinrich von Zügel and his pupils, Leo Putz and the members of Die Scholle, Arnold Balwé and Elisabeth Balwé-Staimmer.
Galerie Schüller has been a regular exhibitor at the Kunstmesse München since 1987.
