Nach zwei Semestern Kunstgewerbeschule und drei Semestern Studium an der Kunstaka- demie in München geht er 1926 für ein Jahr nach Paris. Wieder zurückgekehrt, arbeitet er in Hannover und Berlin vorwiegend als Porträtist. 1935 bekommt er den ersten Monu- mentalmalerei-Auftrag von der Reichspost. Weitere folgen von der Luftwaffe im Bereich der Wandmalerei, des Mosaiks und der Glasmalerei. Während des Dritten Reiches verzichtet er auf jegliche Ausstellungstätigkeit wie auch darauf, Parteimitglied zu werden, was ihm 1937 eine Professur an der Kölner Werkkunstschule vereitelt. Nach Kriegsende nimmt er seine künstlerische Tätigkeit wieder auf und beteiligt sich ab 1946 regelmäßig an Ausstellungen im Haus der Kunst, in der Neuen Münchner Galerie, im Kunstverein als auch im Pavillon im Alten botanischen Garten. Als Vorstandsmitglied ist er in der Münchner Sezession tätig und kuratiert unzählige Ausstellungen im Münchner „Haus der Kunst“, deren Präsident er wie- derholt ist. 1985 wird er mit der Medaille „München leuchtet“ in Gold geehrt. 1988 stirbt Max Lacher 83-jährig in München. The artist Max Lacher was born in 1905 in Munich as the son of Doctor Max Lacher. After en- rolling for two semesters at the art and crafts school and three semesters at the Academy of Arts in Munich, he moved to Paris for a year in 1926. After returning to Germany, he worked mainly as a portraitist in Hannover and Berlin. His first large painting order was received in 1935. The order was commissioned by the Imperial Post followed by assignments for the Air Force and consisted of mural paintings, mosaics and glass painting. During the Third Reich he refused to get involved in any exhibitions as well as to become a party member which in 1937 frustrated his chance to obtain a professorship at the Cologne School of Arts and Crafts. After the war ended he took up his artistic activity again and from 1946 onwards he regularly took part in exhibits in Haus der Kunst, the new Munich gallery, the Kunstverein as well as in the Pavillon of the old Botanical Garden. As a board member of the Munich Secession he curates countless exhibitions in the Munich Haus der Kunst where he holds the position of president. He is honored with the golden medallion München leuchtet in 1985. Max Lacher died in Munich in 1988 at the age of 83. Max Lacher (1905 - 1988)
